In Support of Ronald McDonald House Charities^®

As long-time supporters of Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) New Zealand, Sealy NZ are proud to provide families in their care with a little extra comfort at night. Since 2015, we have been donating Sealy Posturepedic beds to RMHC facilities around the country. This forms part of our ongoing commitment to help create a ‘home-away-from-home’ for families while staying at Ronald McDonald House. Our commitment doesn’t stop at New Zealand, we have also extended our donation efforts to RMHC Fiji.

Here at Sealy NZ, we have huge admiration for the important work that RMHC undertakes, in supporting more than 3,590 families each year. Offering practical support and spaces for families to relax and recharge, during very difficult and stressful times. Just in 2022 only, this translated to nearly 36,000 nights of accommodation for families.

RMHC New Zealand CEO Wayne Howett says every action the charity takes is centered around the children they support and their families:

“We know a well-rested family is better able to support their child through medical treatments, and Sealy NZ’s ongoing donation of quality and comfortable beds, play a significant role in giving those families the best possible rest and care while they’re staying at our houses,” he says. “We really appreciate the support from Sealy NZ in helping keep families close to their children when they need it most.”

The Szczepkowski-Wong Family from Christchurch understand how important restful sleep is, having stayed at a Ronald McDonald House when their youngest daughter, Sophie, was in hospital. RMHC became their sanctuary, offering comfort during a very challenging time. Recognising the importance of sleep hygiene, having a supportive and comfortable bed, along with a soothing environment, helped ease the situation. For families like the Szczepkowski-Wong’s, having their own living space outside of the hospital, with a safe and comfortable sleeping environment, was an appreciated aspect of their stay.

At Sealy NZ, we feel very privileged to be able to extend our support to RMHC, especially during the challenging times that families may face. Beyond providing bedding essentials, our team are dedicated to lending a helping hand and are deeply invested in going the extra mile. Our collective efforts help support those within our community, and this is something we all feel very proud of.
