For many modern mothers, a restful night’s sleep can feel more like a luxury than a necessity. The focus many women put on ensuring their children are happy, healthy and thriving means they often forget to allow themselves that moment of peace that we all require at the end of the day.

Busy, working mums like social influencer and business owner Mandy Duncan know that once you become a parent, time is no longer your own. The thought of some space to yourself, to eat, shower or sleep, can seem like a distant memory.

As a mother of young children and owner of clothing brand Noah & Bowie, Mandy recognises that after a hectic day of juggling her many responsibilities it is vital that she makes time to allow for rest and relaxation. That rejuvenated feeling she gets from a great night’s sleep sets her up for success, so she can get the most out of each day.

We spoke to Mandy about her daily routine, the value she puts on taking time out for herself and how vital sleep is for her success.

As a busy mother, do you have a sleep routine?

I don’t have a particular routine, but I do make sure I’m in bed by 10pm. I always set my alarm for 6am, but that good old snooze button gets used multiple times in the morning!


How important is sleep to you?

Very important. I don’t think many people realise how important a good night’s sleep is for your mind, body and soul.


What are your top tips for a good night's sleep?

For me personally, I always have the best night’s sleep when I’ve been active that day. I also get the best night’s sleep when I don’t use my phone right before bed. Magnesium tablets also work wonders for me.


What’s your experience of sleeping on a Sealy Posturepedic bed?

It has been an absolute dream! Kelvyn and I have both had the best sleep ever. We wake up every morning feeling so refreshed.


What’s your morning routine like, are you an early riser – or do you prefer a lie-in?

The thought of being an early riser is so appealing because when I do get up super early I get so much done. But the reality is I love my sleep and my bed. I set my alarm for 6am, but I usually only get up at 7am.


What do you love about your bedroom?

I love that it feels warm and inviting. To me, it’s my calm space.


How do you keep your health and well-being on track?

I make sure I’m active every day, not only for my body but for my mind as well.


What’s your favourite family breakfast?

Our family loves poached eggs and creamy mushrooms too!
